We are delighted to announce that we have won the Business Award at this year’s St David’s Awards.
Held virtually in March, the National Awards of Wales celebrated the exceptional achievements of people in Wales over 2020. An award nominated by the public, our staff were recognised for going above and beyond to provide childcare services during COVID-19.
We were one of only around 10% of childcare services that stayed open during the first coronavirus lockdown and provided care for 144 families in 6 of their 8 venues during that time to allow parents to go to work. We provided weekly activity packs for those children who stayed home with their parents and a book donation scheme was introduced and provided around 200 book bundles so that every child had access to reading resources.
As a company we worked alongside 7 local authorities to provide Emergency Childcare for Keyworker and Vulnerable families, we were so proud of our nursery teams who provided a sense of normality and consistency for these families, and we are grateful for this commitment to be recognised with this prestigious award.
In addition to this, we also provided Covid training for all employees and produced policies and procedures that have been used in other settings and Jenine, our owner worked as a nursery nurse to cover employee absence and to help ensure the sites stayed open. Jenine also proactively shared information and support to other childcare services who were nervous about reopening.
The First Minister, Mark Drakeford announced the winners at the Awards first ever virtual ceremony. Speaking at the event he said:
“This year’s St David Awards finalists are an inspiring group of people that we are lucky to have living and working in Wales. The past year has been incredibly challenging time. The coronavirus pandemic has brought much sadness and heartbreak – but it has also brought out the best in many people. The winners tonight are just a small proportion of those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and are a true inspiration to us all.”

Since taking over and opening Newport Little Inspirations in January this year, there has been lots of work and improvements made to improve the standard of care and facilities for every age of child within our care. Our Newport Nursery now has improved facilities for Babies and Toddlers.
Within the last 6 months the whole site has been painted internally and externally providing fresh and clean surroundings for our staff and the children in our care. We have also carried out health and safety improvements and made investments to ensure that the safety of everyone on our site is paramount.
Our latest improvement has focussed on our Baby and Toddler sections where we have had brand new flooring fitted and new resources purchased so that more Messy Play and educational fun can be had, especially with sand and water which tends to be a favourite with this age group. We are delighted to share these photographs with you and we are really proud of the improvements that have been carried out to date.

As Little Inspirations Day Nursery at Newport has now been operational for just over two months, we enjoyed speaking to a number of parents and families who are living or working in Newport at the recent Newport Toddler & Baby Show at the Coldra Court Hotel.
In addition to speaking to parents, two of our Newport nursery staff members Cerys and Kirsty were on hand to keep our little visitors busy and entertained. We had sand, play dough and messy foam as well as our hotly contested Easter colouring competition.
We were delighted with the response and thanks to the organisers of arranging this show to support parents and families in Newport.
As well as celebrating a successful show we are delighted that our Newport Day Nursery has had a facelift and we are delighted with the feedback that we are receiving from existing and new customers.

Our whirlwind start to 2018 continues with the exciting news that Little Inspirations has been announced as a finalist in the Welsh Business Awards in the ‘Commitment to Skills & People Development’ category.
We now employ over 90 highly skilled staff across all of our nursery settings in South Wales and we are delighted with this nomination alongside other leading companies in South Wales. This showcases the commitment to continuous learning and development of our team and even more importantly represents the importance of the childcare sector to the South Wales economy.

As a exciting start to 2018 and to the Little Inspirations group of children’s nurseries, we are delighted to today announce the opening of our latest children’s nursery in Newport, South Wales.
Over the last few months our directors have been in negotiations to acquire Buzzy Bees Nursery which had operated for over 10 years and became available due to the retirement of their owners.
Newport is the fifth childcare setting within our group and we are delighted to welcome all existing staff and customers to Little Inspirations.
Situated close in Pye Corner and just off Bassaleg Road in Newport, this 59 place Day Nursery is perfectly located close to the M4 Junction 28 and provides a perfect option for parents looking for quality childcare in Newport.

A fantastic effort from our staff and parents resulted in us donating over 120 gifts to the CaptialFM Christmas Toy Appeal. They were thrilled with the biggest ever donation from a company when staff and children from our various nurseries across South Wales delivered our donations to their collection station in St David’s Centre, Cardiff.
St David’s Cardiff and CapitalFM have got together to ensure that every child in South Wales receives a Christmas gift.
