South Wales Nurseries

We are delighted to share the proud news that Little Inspirations Day Nursery has been named as the Nursery Group winner for 2021 in The National NMT Nursery Awards that took place in London last weekend and we are over the moon!

Little Inspirations Day Nursery which is based in Llantrisant, has 6 nurseries located across RCT, Barry and Newport and won the award for the best group of nurseries under 10 sites across the UK.  This is a fantastic achievement from the childcare industry’s leading awards in the UK. The National NMT Nursery Awards has celebrated and recognised the achievements of the nursery sector for nearly 20 years, and champions the sector and its workers continuously, their awards are just one of the ways that they achieve this.

This latest achievement adds to our 2021 successes, as earlier in the year we were named as a St David Award winner by First Minister, Mark Drakeford for our response to the Covid-19 pandemic and our continuous provision of childcare particularly for Key-Worker families.

South Wales Nurseries

Managing Director, Jenine Gill who attended the awards in London on behalf of the company commented “This is a really proud moment for me personally but more importantly proud of the contribution from our 100 staff across all our nurseries who have made this possible. This has been an incredibly challenging period for everyone and as we continue to work safely to minimise the risks posed by the coronavirus, the childcare industry as a whole should be proud of the contribution it has made, but this award means a great deal, to be recognised within our sector across the UK.”

“As we welcome new babies and toddlers into our nurseries for the first time, we are seeing the impact on these young families caused by extended periods of restrictions, with some of the children not being apart from their parents since they were born. The role that nurseries play with our nursery practitioners is key to support babies and toddlers with their early development needs and their interaction with other children ahead of going to school is key. This award is for each member of our team, I wish they could all be here to accept it with me, but I accept this one their behalf.”

With continued growth planned and a new nursery due to open in Pontypridd in Spring 2022, Little Inspirations plan to make a positive difference to support even more families across south Wales in the years’ ahead!

Rain won’t stop play in Llantrisant

The outside play area in our Llantrisant setting has been transformed following funding received from the Rhondda Cynon Taff Childcare Offer Small Capital Grant Scheme. As a result, our Llantrisant garden is now the biggest outside space of any nursery within the local area.

With 2 outside classrooms, soft flooring and multiple covered areas, our children can maximise their outside development opportunities, with a garden that is accessible to them, whatever the Welsh Weather. From rain downpours to strong UV levels, children are shielded by the shaded areas, allowing the continuation of outdoor educational learning. Additionally, to protect the children’s resources we have purchased additional storage to provide a longer usable life for all resources.

The RCT Small Capital Grants Scheme supports childcare settings to deliver the Childcare Offer, providing funding opportunities for the completion of essential capital works or purchase of capital equipment which will enable childminders/childcare settings to improve their facilities and increase the number of Childcare Offer places that they can provide.

Due to this project, we are now able to support more children who receive the additional Childcare Offer during term time and holiday periods. It has also helped us to cover COVID health and safety guidelines, with children playing in their secure bubbles in a fun and stimulating outdoor environment.

Sarah Brill, Nursery Manager commented “The transformation of our large garden area over the last 12 months is amazing, first of all with large artificial garden now making outdoor activities possible whatever the weather, and now with the additional outdoor classroom our children get to undertake so many of their activities outside and benefit from our wonderful natural surroundings.  We are grateful to the ongoing support from the RCT Childcare Team.

We are delighted to announce that we have won the Business Award at this year’s St David’s Awards.

Held virtually in March, the National Awards of Wales celebrated the exceptional achievements of people in Wales over 2020. An award nominated by the public, our staff were recognised for going above and beyond to provide childcare services during COVID-19.

We were one of only around 10% of childcare services that stayed open during the first coronavirus lockdown and provided care for 144 families in 6 of their 8 venues during that time to allow parents to go to work. We provided weekly activity packs for those children who stayed home with their parents and a book donation scheme was introduced and provided around 200 book bundles so that every child had access to reading resources.

As a company we worked alongside 7 local authorities to provide Emergency Childcare for Keyworker and Vulnerable families, we were so proud of our nursery teams who provided a sense of normality and consistency for these families, and we are grateful for this commitment to be recognised with this prestigious award.

In addition to this, we also provided Covid training for all employees and produced policies and procedures that have been used in other settings and Jenine, our owner worked as a nursery nurse to cover employee absence and to help ensure the sites stayed open. Jenine also proactively shared information and support to other childcare services who were nervous about reopening.

The First Minister, Mark Drakeford announced the winners at the Awards first ever virtual ceremony. Speaking at the event he said:

“This year’s St David Awards finalists are an inspiring group of people that we are lucky to have living and working in Wales. The past year has been incredibly challenging time.  The coronavirus pandemic has brought much sadness and heartbreak – but it has also brought out the best in many people. The winners tonight are just a small proportion of those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and are a true inspiration to us all.”

Jenine Gill, Managing Director  commented “We are absolutely over the moon to receive this Award. Our staff’s commitment and dedication in providing first class childcare even through the most challenging of times makes me so proud.” ”

Little Inspirations is delighted to share the wonderful news that we have been nominated and announced as a finalist in the St David Award 2021 in the Business category.

The National Awards of Wales are nominated by the public and recognise and celebrate the exceptional achievements of people in Wales.

We are delighted for our staff to receive this recognition who have stepped up and delivered in response to Covid-19, to support families in South Wales with their childcare needs. In March 2020 when the first lockdown was announced,  Little Inspirations was one of only around 10% of childcare services that stayed open during the first coronavirus lockdown, and provided care for 144 keyworker families throughout our 6 locations.

During this very stressful period we provided activity packs for those children who stayed home with their parents and a book donation scheme was introduced and provided around 200 book bundles so that children had access to reading resources.

During this challenging time director Jenine, worked as a nursery nurse to cover employee absence and to help ensure the sites stayed open. Jenine also proactively shared information and support to other childcare services who were nervous about reopening.

As a company we worked alongside 7 local authorities to provide Emergency Childcare for Keyworker and Vulnerable families, we were so proud of our nursery teams who provided a sense of normality and consistency for these families, and we are grateful for this commitment to be recognised with this nomination for such a prestigious award.

Managing Director Jenine commented “We are absolutely over the moon to receive this news and it has provided our staff with such a boost during this difficult time. Their commitment and dedication in providing first class childcare even through the most challenging of times makes me so proud.”

Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions a virtual awards ceremony will be held on the 24th March and the winners will be announced by the First Minister, Mark Drakeford.  For the full details of the 2021 nominations.

Jenine concluded “Thanks to our staff and families for your trust and support over this last year, this nomination is for each one of you, you are all true inspirations!”

Our Four Seasons Nursery in Tonyrefail, RCT has started offering regular Stay and Play sessions within the nursery and these are proving really popular with new parents in the area.

Stay and Play is an opportunity for babies and young toddlers to enjoy a short session, (usually 90 minutes) within the nursery, joining in fun activities, crafts, song time and snacks with parents/guardians staying for the session to also share in the fun and meet our staff and other local parents.

These brief sessions are a great way for children new to the nursery environment to get comfortable with their new surroundings encourage interaction and play with other children and also a great way for parents to see our nursery and staff in action.

There are many childcare decisions and options for parents in Tonyrefail to make and it is important to make the right decision. These sessions are informal and fun but a great way to ask questions and find out information from our staff and other local parents.

All future sessions are advertised on our Facebook page and parents are encouraged to confirm their attendance in advance.  Sessions are usually free or very low cost.
